Well I haven't read any real reason here yet why 4449 can't run on the Shasta Route again.

I assume the only real obstacle is finding sponsorship.

I will take a guess that ticket sales only cover a fraction of total costs (which include what, insurance, fuel, carrier fees, Amtrak fees, paid staff, possibly security?). I imagine several sponsors are needed to cover all that.

Being a positive minded person, I assume 4449 will cross the CA state line again. But it will be like a total lunar eclipse -- a very rare thing. So don't miss out. Go see it!
