Speculation on my part as I am not a bridge engineer, but I saw a rendering of the completed bridge and its one of those cable suspended types with a central tower and support cables off each side. The span that collapsed was the longest span of the bridge and was in place without the support cables. Probably had something to do with it? Also just heard this morning that there were also tensioning cables running laterally through the structure that had "loosened" and were being "tightened" when the collapse occurred. Someone definitely missed something..........
