This project already is being planned for a connection from Victorvilled, via the High Desert Corridor, to a connection to Metrolink and/or CAHSRA (when it gets there, at the current pace, probably some time in the 22nd century) at Palmdale.
The LA-LV project (starting with Victorville to LV) project is very well planned and has always had a conservative, but reasonably good business plan, with good planning, and realistic expectations (unlike the CHSRA fiasco...).
Brightline just got some significant new financing for the next phase in Florida.
The Brightline and LA-LV model for a more "modest" and conservative approach to implementing HSR is more affordable to build and operate, thus requiring lower fares, attracting more riders, competing well with auto times, in corridors with well demonstrated travel demand.
This is great news, if you like trains, and if you hate the drive to Vegas on 15 as much as I did in stop and go traffic in the middle of the desert for hours on my last trip up that way.
