On the face of it 'precision RRing' seems a benefit to shortlines.
Those are typically more responsive to customer needs, If shortlines can count on precision connections with the big RRs, the customer can win, thus also the shortline.
A shortline that busts its butt to provide service only to have the cars sit at the interchange for day[s] gets little credit.
