Mssr's Jackson & Best, please consider the following :
1) Positive Train Control will allow freight trains to operate on closer headways, thereby allowing for higher density on existing lines. And since most passenger trains are subsidized by some government entity, either local or Federal, at least part of the cost of PTC would also be subsidized.
2) Tourist lines & shortlines, as well as other low density rail lines, are way down the list of PTC implementation. Years away, in other words.
3) Shortlines as SCAB outfits ?!? Because a 2 man non - union crew can turn a profit where a 4 man union crew couldn't ??? Or just your own prejudices showing up ???
