Only someone cozy with the Ag industry would promote this stupid argument for illegal immigration. The rest of the world has displaced most farm workers with machines. The only reason it hasn't happened here is because we turn a blind eye to this foreign invasion of cheap labor so the Ag industry has no incentive to mechanize. In the mean time taxpayers subsidize these workers with billions in social programs and services while the industries that benefit the most pay almost nothing. Personally I'd rather pay 5 bucks for a head of lettuce that I choose to buy, than have taxes imposed on me to keep the lettuce I may or may not buy at a buck a head. Besides, there is a legal process for industries to lobby for and recruit foreign workers, sponsor them, and pave the way for permanent legal residence if they choose to. But then the workers don't come so cheap, do they? Follow the money. The industries that benefit the most from illegal labor are fleecing taxpayers, plain and simple.
