Voters in King county (Seattle) voters approved Sound Transit 3 and in addition to a .5% sales tax, property tax of $.25 per $1000 assessed value there was a .8% increase for license tabs tied to the vehicle value.
The tabs for one of our vehicles increased $1000 and that vehicle is only used a few times a year to exit the state. That comes to 1% per year of what I paid for the vehicle. Commercial trucks pay a far less rate considering their usage.
Even though retired, all the extra cost for me were somewhat assuaged by the outrage of the geniuses that admitted voting for the tax, crying that they did not realize the price to be paid. All the information on price was readily available, but apparently my proclaimed betters don't read in detail, or have comprehension problems. Their suffering is my solace.
