To paraphrase the immortal words of Strother Martin: What we have h'yuh is a failure to prioritize. Fixing CAHSR nor run-thru trackage at LAUS nor InterCity or TEE level passenger train service between LA and San Diego is not crucial. The all-important thing here is to get a second Bechtel gauge Bay tube approval, planning, and funding locked in before Caltrain can start up its new EMU's, giving Californians a real world comparative glimpse of what modern electric passenger rail looks like.
Before you laff take at look at the "track" record of MTC-ABAG-SPUR planning and funding and how many of the California political kingfish hail from the BAYRT Area. And remember they do not have real modern HSR in that certain urban planner city of god that I do not need to mention and that SF wants to be so bad. So if CAHSR is dumbed down to say their 125 mph no biggie.
