MUNI can acquire rechargeable LRV's too... Their Siemens order hasn't shown these cars as battery backups for propulsion in no catenary track. (not even San Diego Trolley has expressed interest).

In Spain, about five years ago, a new system was built with streetcars that had their pans down for no wire territory in a "historic district"... Same can be done at SFO. Even induction recharge...

Good for New Flyer, though.
