The leading website for anything trolleybus is
trolley:motion (based in Germany, therefore some, mainly news, contents in German language only). They do have a quite interesting "basics series" pages which is publicly available. Interestingly, there are more than 300 cities with some trolleybus operation (many of them in the former Sovjet Union).
About Toronto, I am really wondering why they are still gurking around with trolleypoles on the streetcars. That application is definitely outdated, and I don't see any reason why to keep it.
The DiaLOGIKa system does sound promising; it will have to proof its reliability in the wild, however. On the other hand, the conventional system for raising the poles (stationary with guides) is technically so simple that "fancy electronics" will have some difficulties to get established, particularly with BTBs, allowing a bigger autonomy off wire, which permits operation to the next wiring station.
It is for sure that the conventional switchwork is heavy and needs good maintenance.
