Does it amaze people, the many issues about commuter rail in Marin and Sonoma
remain after all of these years?

I think I have an answer: SMART staff. They have been manipulating/hiding
information from the public because they know that if they just layed
the data out there, they couldn't get the 2/3 vote.

That's what Larkspur is about. Lillian Hames burned the bridges two years
ago when she misrepresented the City of Larkspur's position. The majority
of the council is still miffed.

They've manipulated the financial information. How could they assume
no wage increases for public transit workers for 20 years? They talk
about the "annual costs" but exclude the debt service associated with
a $345 million bond payment?

Then they misrepresented the impacts of freight service. There are memos showing how SMART staff colluded with the NCRA in 2007 to try to hide the freight plan from the public.
The Board sat on its hands despite this misbehavior.

All because of the vote.

And that's why they'll likely lose ....again.
