Good story. Unlike many, it isn't written to make the train and the public agency seem evil; just the facts.
OTOH, that picture of a Coaster on the Del Mar tracks makes me think that the only way that line will remain in that location for another 30 years is to put it on a viaduct extending out from the cliff. Not much ground left there. Could be the first railroad loss in CA that's partially due to sea level rise (eliminating most of the beach). And given those cliffs, how do people get down them to whatever beach might occasionally exist? Ropes?
