Between the RR and my planning career, I've been "out in the field", in some of what others might call some pretty bad LA and SouCal hoods. And, while working on freeway and HOV projects, I've been exposed to some pretty "rough" homeless camps. I've been to places where Wherry got his engine shot up, where Lapdog shot it out with the SLA, where they hung the engine block from the overpass to hit the lead unit, also where they rocked the train every day, watched them find a body under one of the freeway overpasses, and other crazy crap like that. But, none of them compare to that section of Stockton. Where, except for the RR dicks, it's now apparently been completely abandoned by any remaining semblance of civilization, as we know it. It is sad, it is scary, and it is indeed also probably as dangerous a place to railfan, as I've ever found.
