I am burnt out on it too. It has been hard for me to accept that the Bay Area really does deserve BART. I had hoped for a better outcome and a more felicitous future than patronage machine Manhattan.
Just accepting that stupidity and corruption are insurmountable does not come easy to me, as no hope takes the fun out of life. I watch Italian tv every morning out of Naples, where they go on and on about suppressing the Mafia. Nary a word about the unions and the city politicians whom you know instinctively are thoroughly controlled by the Camorra. It is a joke. The clans are a shadow government of the lower class in society.
California nonsense aside the real important conflict ongoing now is between the nationalist-statist vision(China) and the internationalist-corporatist vision(Wall St.-EU. super-rich, etc.,etc.)for the society of the future. The Chinese system knows how to make sure no Daech rises up to cause trouble but my money is on the tycoons and their corporations over the longer term.
