Muni has a little shop off Third Street. I think on 22th near Pennsylvania and the Caltrain 22nd Street station in the Dogpatch neighborhood it's part of the Woods Division bus storage yard.They have their own carpenters and other people who completely rebuild cars or make completely new ones. Some are painted in various original color schemes. I think it takes about a year or more.
They are transported by truck from the cable car barn and put on a short stretch of track (without the cable) outside the building and pushed inside.
I believe there is room for two cars
