As I look back 50 years to Taylor Roundhouse on July 20, 1969-Why the hell isn't Moon Day a National Holiday?

I was thinking back, watching all of the Apollo 11 coverage, to watching "one small step for man" on "Sheriff" John Permar's "new fangled" portable TV, at the Taylor Roundhouse Turnout Hostler Shanty with about 500 other Taylor SP Employee's, 50 years ago tomorrow, on that hot July afternoon. It even brought RFE Rollin Roberts to tears....

So why isn't this something we celebrate....? Why isn't this a National Holiday?

Hell, Columbus was just wrong by about 12,000 miles in his calculation of the earth's circumference, and he was actually lost.... Whereas, we nailed this navigation, with our brightest and best....doing most of the hard math, spot on, and by hand....or with computers less powerful than the one in your watch....

Shouldn't we celebrate this "big step for mankind" with at least as much pride and honor as we give to an Italian sea captain, who was actually clueless about where he was, and lost, for accidentally finding a place he didn't know was even there?

What's your vote? Shouldn't Moon Day be a National Holiday?
