How is it a big story that Obama supports "progressive" taxation? McCain supports progressive taxation as well, but his plan is less progressive in that his cuts go straight to the top. This "liberal media" thing is not really supported by the facts, but I suppose you will find what you are looking for. MSNBC has 2 hours (maybe 3) hours of programming with liberal hosts (Matthews is more a centrist), and 3 hours of Joe Scarborough, and more Buchanan than you can shake a stick at.

This "redistribution" stuff is intended to imply that Obama intends to tax the middle class to support the poor through welfare. I have not heard McCain advocate for a flat tax. Obama's tax proposals have been completely clear and consistent. Joe the Plummer, and most likely you, will receive a tax cut under Obama's plan, whereas you will not under McCain's plan.

The national economy has consistently fared better under Democratic leadership than Republican. GDP has grown far more during Democratic administrations. The Democrats' support of energy efficiency and public transportation will probably mean good things for the railroad industry in the long run. Just to be clear, I expect that increasing rail transportation will mean more investment in our nation's rail infrastructure to support both passenger and freight operations. As much as the national debt is a serious concern, the government is going to have to spend more money to build our way out of the economic mess we are in. That will probably mean more debt in the short term. Just my opinion.
