165 mph is faster than they'll be able to run in the NEC, by a small margin. It's faster than the Virgin Las Vegas line will run even if they build to the original plans. It's slower than the Texas HSR line design, if the Republicans don't succeed in killing it. It's considerably slower than the CAHSR line is designed for (though the probability of any train using the Valley tracks at more than 110 mph in the lifetime of anybody old enough to read this is vanishingly small).
