That brings back many memories... As with the many great shots of the deadlines of locomotives stored in the Bullring in the late 70's and early 80's...
These memories go back to working the City job, or to playing tonk in the Bullring shanty, while 1920's date switchmen passed the jug around (which is where I learned, from the guys who learned it from the rails with the 1890's dates, how these places originally got there names).
These go on, to memories of the last Christmas party at the signal maintainers yard (now where the DASH bus yard is on Spring, next to the Gold Line) and of giving all of the signal maintainers kids rides on the engine, in front of the officials (certainly can't do that anymore, can you?...)while working the last regular "mill" job at the Bullring complex, out of the Shops.
And, of course, memories like stopping at Sam's stand for coffee, to go over the list...
I switched the Bullring and the mill on my very last day with SP... Then my whole crew, the foreman, both switchmen, the fireman, and hoghead drove over to the Taylor yard offices, signed the papers, picked up the checks, and took the buy out...
