I had to hock that "silver spoon" to buy food during Reaganomics, when we had double-digit inflation and double-digit unemployment at the same time (I was furloughed for six years, and could only find a crappy, low-paying job while the cost of living went through the roof). I don't really blame Reagan--he was just a somewhat-charming mindless puppet--but the evil cabal who were pulling his strings for their own enrichment deserve to rot in hell. (Funny, kind of sounds like today.) There have also been quite a few other exceptions through the years to your belief Boomers have had such a warm and fuzzy existence. But no matter, every generation has its trials and tribulations to face. In the end, I made a ton of money playing with trains for a living. People love to complain that "if only" life was fair, government was honest, taxation was equitable, etc. Well, they're not, so go make of your life what you can. Blaming others doesn't get you anywhere.
