The original segment of the Charlotte, N.C., light rail system is built in an abandoned ex-Norfolk Southern (Southern Railway) corridor. It was first rebuilt single-track for heritage trolley operation, then ultimately built out as full double-track light rail.

I'm sure that there are light rail lines in a number of cities that use abandoned freight rail corridors.
