Interesting you bring this up. When we went thru the Panama Canal in 1/96 this Nicaragua canal option was being discussed then, though not with the Chinese as the investors.
With the Yuma agriculture industry in full flower down there and now the Indian tribes chiming in, I think UP is gonna have a really tough time of it. Farmers and Indians both on the warpath is BIG trouble!!!! These are not little family farms in the Yuma area----these are major acreages of BIG growers (many of them here in the Salinas Valley as well) and they do not take kindly to having their huge farms cut by rails with far apart xings and complications to their irrigation and tilling practices.
