2 cars on the ground

Yesterday about 1pm I heard the BNSF dispatcher come on line to all trains and track crews that he had just got a police report and was trying to track the validity, that a train had just passed and had the last two cars on the ground. I never heard any more about the train. If this actually happened how much damage would the track receive, they have both concrete and wood ties, would the engineer be able tell if this had taken place? This happened in the Flagstaff Arizona area.
