I agree with Ken Douglas. I have ridden #3 (SW Chief) 5 times in the past 4 years. The schedule into LA is padded somewhat and we have arrived at LA about 10 - 15 minutes early each time. If I was to connect to #14 Coast Starlight I would be confident. I believe that there is about 1 1/2 hour between the arrival of #3 and the departure of #14. The trip along the coast is worth doing, in my opinion.
