Back in the summer of 1953 my dad arranged a day trip cab ride on the GN over their electrified zone between Wenatchee and Skykomish. I wanted to go SO BAD but of course I was too young. He went west on the Cascadian in the cab of an FT diesel, but cvame back on the Empire Builder in the cab of one of the big Ws.

Another highlight came in the summer of 1957. My dad talked us into the cab of an eastbound freight. We rode to Haugan MT in the cab of the E76 and came back to Avery in the E34 helper set. I will NEVER FORGET that trip.

I even got to see the bipolars on the Coast division.
