Columbia & Cowlitz is definitely alive and well, owned by Patriot Rail, They operate the former Weyerhauser trackage in Longview (although the former Weyerhauser Woods logging line is in the process of being abandoned).

Longview Switching Company has always been and remains separate, a jointly owned terminal railroad of the UP and BNSF, the same as the Portland Terminal Railroad 40 miles south. Since they do not own any locomotives (like PTRD) their operation is largely invisible to the general public. I believe even the crossing signal shacks and the Emergency Notification Signs all simply say BNSF.
