I live in Pittsburgh, a city whose local political leadership are Democrats.
Since the end of World War II, Pittsburgh, has undergone three major urban revitalization initiatives. These initiatives have primarily been undertaken not in response to anyone burning anything, but to correct extensive long-term patterns of private and public sector disinvestment.
As with other cities and towns around the country, there were large scale protests at the end of May and early June. Some who came to the first protest went their own way and vandalized many businesses in Downtown Pittsburgh. As terrible as that was, the damage has been repaired, life goes on and those actions do not define the overall protests nor the City of Pittsburgh, nor cities in general.
The worst violence in the Pittsburgh occurred two years ago when a White Supremacist burst into a synagogue and murder 11 Jews.
