I don't care whose building it, BART, VTA, or the Area 51 Social Club, it is still taxpayer money that is best spent elsewhere or, even better, not at all. As for the cars not being compatable, is not BART in the early planning stages of replacing the entire existing fleet?
Seems to me the main thing San Jose wants is some grandiose project to compliment to stupidity of the Taj Magonzales city employee relaxation center, sometimes known as city hall.

This right pocket-left pocket mentality that somehow if money comes from some other source (i.e. the commissars in DC)it is not costing us anything is absurd, it all comes from the taxpayer. To start now pointing how each city wants its own bells and whistles is a little late isn't it? That crap is what drove up the cost and delayed the original construction of BART with things such as Berkeley demanding more underground than originally planned.
