It should be interesting too see. Hypothetically, if they start construction to Merced by 2022 electrification to Merced in 2025 isn't happening. My guess is they start testing trains further south where they, according to business plan, should be electrified (they also need to order trains by next year for 2025 availability?; ie didn't the NEC take 5 plus years to get the new Acelas. Maybe a prototype in 2025?). That's probably why they have 2029, they realize they need mucho flexibility.
