State of California Awards SMART $1.45M for
Freight Rail Investments

Per the General Managers report:

On January 28, 2021; California Transportation Commission approved $1,455,850 for SMART. In this statewide competitive grant process, SMART asked for and received funding to construct the following projects starting Summer 2021:

Freight Rail Improvements:
1) Repairs on Black Point Bridge over Petaluma River in Novato;
2) Rehabilitation and modernization of two existing freight rail spurs in Windsor and Southwest Santa Rosa
3) Construction of a new modern freight spur in Windsor.
