Pilot Rock branch - last published report I recall said the branch was only running once a month. Boise Cascade's implosion continues - over the last few years they closed the lumber mill at Elgin (equipment outdated); sold Pilot Rock, La Grande and particle board plant sold to Woodgrain Products; Wallula paper plant sold to PCA. That left plywood mill at Elgin which I believe I heard was closing a while back.

Late February last year there was a warm storm stuck over area which in addition to heavy rain was melting a decent snowpack. UP washed/slid out on west side of Blues. CWW had several washouts and a trestle between Milton-Freewater and Weston was damaged. As no equipment was trapped, service to Weston was suspended. Smith Frozen Foods now transloading at a subsidiary in Milton-Freewater - averaging maybe two ARMN reefers a week.
