In 2004 I got a quote from a track contractor to upgrade a former RR yard used for industrial switching. To replace worn out 75# rail with 110# relay, some ties, ballast and surfacing - worked out to about $100 a track foot. That was before the price of steel went crazy.

Railroading ain't cheap!
