The ride, service and schedules of the Capitol Corridor are excellent, but I wonder how long the state [and us taxpayers] will be willing to subsidize 27 million revenue with an additional 32 million dollar check. Farebox recovery is struggling to reach fifty percent for operating expenses [excluding administration, marketing, etc]. The capital spent so far is 'only'in the hundreds of millions, but there is a growing 'wish list'. Capital expenses are not covered in in farebox recovery. Asking the government to spend a pile on cars, track and locomotives for the priveledge of losing over fifty cents on the dollar may be a harder sell in this era of budget deficits. The 4700 riders a day are getting a great deal; I am glad when I can be among them. rh
