I applaud the effect Thomas has on our young children. Promoting an interest in railroading with our youth is of great benefit as was our Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation Holiday Express II here in Portland Oregon that entertained just under 9,000 parents, grandparents and children. This is one of the reasons our Pacific NW Chapter, NRHS has for the third year collected just under 100 Train Toys for Tots (US Marine Corp program) during the holiday season. If we don't hook the kids, our rail history preservation efforts are doomed.
