Transportation economics have sure changed since the 1950s (stating the obvious).

I have a feeling that because giant retailers like WalMart and Home Depot have squeezed producers and shippers so hard to make prices of goods low, that rail transportation isn't cheap enough to compete with the El Cheapo starving trucker who will move the stuff for pennies.

Oh well?
