LA to Salt Lake is still over 500 miles, so the rule of thumb isn't violated. It's just less than 1000, which seems to be the soft rule now.

Wonder if anybody's going to take over that cold storage place near Tulare, that originated refrigerator blocks and trains on UP for a while. Same concept as the former use at Wallula.
