I couldn't agree with Dr. Zarkoff more. I'll probably vote against the entire package of measures, which are completely ineffectual and avoid putting the key policy decisions before the voters. At the very least the public needs to weigh in on the two thirds requirement to pass a state budget.

Sales taxes suck, especially when they approach 10%. A sin tax on gasoline and parking lots coupled with an across-the-board paring of social engineering frills is what I recommend. By frills I mean diversity enforcers and the like. Cars cause as much havoc as guns and paving the country is an environmental disaster.

Political corruption cannot be separated from corporate corruption. I haven't got an answer. My own political party has morphed into such a self-perpetuating machine I can't vote for its candidates anymore.
