I rode the Gold Line from LAUPT to the end, to trace the path of the Santa Fe's Second District. I made a stop for coffee at the former Pasadena station and got off in Monrovia to take pictures of the well known depot. At Pasadena, I had to step around piles of excrement on the platform. There was puke on the seats of one car and a derelict (I refuse to use the politically correct bullshit term "homeless") sprawled out in another car, reeking of urine.
I also rode the line to Santa Monica from Union Station. A lunatic boarded the train a few stops before UCLA and was making menacing and vulgar pronouncements to the other passengers. Fortunately, he got off by UCLA, without committing any aggressive acts.
Nowhere did I see anyone of authority or any law enforcement personnel on any conveyance.
Any wonder that people are fearful of riding? Defund the police and refuse to prosecute criminals. What could possibly go wrong?
