If San Jose wants the line built, they need to go for a shallow cut and cover setup. Platforms to the two sides of the tracks in the center. Short stairs down (and elevators/escalators) fare gates on the platforms, no mezzanine. Way cheaper, faster, fewer materials, AND more convenient for passengers. No need for Gold/Platinum plated project.
