Moving all these locos from such far flung locations during such an economic downturn is certainly something to be worried about. But I imagine the truckers who were flush with business a year ago are begging for anything to move at the moment. While Glendale is only 10 miles away Sacramento is nearly 300 and Strasburg is a whole continent away. A couple of years ago THA moved one of the A&MR 44 tonners from Louisiana back to Arcata and stored it at Humboldt Flakeboard Plant. With the Humboldt Bay Harbor District imploding over the complete absence of maritime traffic due to the closing of the pulp mill, the collapse of the chip market and the bad economy in general, the Timber Heritage Museum may be all they have left to hang their hat on. We certainly wish them well and the discipline to pull this thing off.
