Sounds a lot like what happened to St. Louis Union Station. i.e., the redevelopers had plans to convert the complex into everything EXCEPT a Union Station. St. Louis Union Station has several stub-ended tracks that still come in under the train shed, but they're used only for special occasions -- not everyday use by Amtrak.
You just watch. The same thing will happen in Denver. Amtrak will be booted out to some dank place along the river and they'll use a couple of mobile homes to function as a "station." It happened in Salt Lake City, too.
