Behavioral studies have been done ad nauseum trying to find why people do things like this with a variety of results but little substantive change. What I would like to see is members of Florida's expansive unhoused population recruited into a unionized workforce of crossing guards to protect people from themselves. I think this could be a win-win. Those experiencing homelessness could be given meaningful employment at good union wages and benefits with hope for a better future while enhancing the state's political landscape for the betterment of all.
