Closing the barn door dept: one of the YT suggestions after viewing this video was a news report where the city (with some Brightline money) added a line of high rubber traffic divider posts with reflectors (like Caltrans uses in some no-passing zones such as on 395 south of Kramer's) on the center stripe of a road that had 2 fatal grade crossing hits within a few weeks. Melbourne FL. Yes, its still not quad gates with raised medians etc., but it at least recognizes that something visible might help. Doesn't protect against the crazies that would pull out 1/4 mile back to floor it on the wrong side of the road around the line of waiting cars, of course; little other than K-Rail quad gates would do that. And the posts are not solid; somebody could just drive through them, though taking damage in the process. Still, better than just a faded center stripe at night - ah yes, in the vid it looked like the city had repainted the stripe when adding the posts, too...

Progress, however slight, is appreciated. While they were at it, I would have thought they could add some Wrong Way markings as are sometimes used at offramps.
