There is much truth in the above statement. My husband is on the BOD of the Point Lobos Association, a non-profit which raises money for "extras" for the Point Lobos State Reserve south of Carmel on Highway 1. We know all about how the screws are put to the parks and what gyrations the parks people have to go through to get outside funds, much less regular funds for projects. I seriously doubt that anyone at CSRM wanted to let the donated Santa Fe equipment rust away, but when they sat down to list the priorities for their expenses, maintaining what they already had "under the roof" most likely took precedence. Yes, being a volunteer in any organization goes a long way to help but the bottom line is the bottom line----you try to put the dollars available for the greatest effect. Yes, I know that there are always those who will point to what is done and yell about something that is not done, but that's life-----
