I will have to second that motion!
And I like your definition of extremism - excellent.
But don't you think we have all had quite enough; of having to defend people on this forum, who have merely expressed their own opinion, or have asked innocuous though banal questions, or have brought up other railfan taboos. I find the intolerance of this quite tiresome!
I guess I must be a naive old man, as I am baffled beyond belief, why someone on here found it necessary to protest so loudly, that he does not associate with. . . . . . (fill in the blank); just because that person agreed with him on one point while there was general disagreement otherwise.
Do we really have to agree on everything; before we are allowed to agree on anything. If so, how can we ever find common ground. And without any hope of common ground, how are we not trapped in extremism ourselves.
Maybe I'm just lucky, to still remember my "liberal" education. You know, the one where we were treated to true liberalism - such as "I may dis-agree with what you say; but I will defend with my life, your right to say it" - Voltaire.
Perhaps, some broad re-thinking is order - by many.
