Loss of impedance bond cables aka current/static dissipators can be nasty

Thieves got into a LADWP substation and stole all the grounding cables
It was during a Santa Ana wind condition where the humidity was low and the cases of the big transformers charged up to tens of thousands of volts and some flashed over
One caught fire
Wire thieves also can get injured or killed if they come in contact with ground and the transformer case
Then their next of kin can sue
