Another troll inspired fantasy about the perpetrators of this kind of crime suing as "victims"? That's the alternative reality some folks exist in, I guess...
Meanwhile, it kind of looks like good old fashioned copper theft, and they are probably keeping mum on this, because they are going to try to track down the scrap dealers who have bought it, as this stuff can be much easier to identify.
Yep, let's hope that they "don't get hurt", or "caught" like the scrap dealers just busted for receiving stolen goods.

Toughening up current theft laws, by including a charge of sabotaging public infrastructure with say a five-to-twenty-year minimum mandatory prison sentence (depending on the severity of the damage from the sabotage), would probably go a long way toward increasing the "risks" to deter this sort of crime a bit more effectively. That would probably help take at least some of the easy "fun and profit" out of this sort of crime.
There are some folks who try to work to fix problems in this world, and there are some folks who just seem to like to spew nonsense and get off over them...
