1) Sac Southern is not a light rail line. It's actually, still, a freight line if any new customers appear (doesn't have any for now). So it's not relevant to the question here.
2) In any case, that particular crossing method is long gone, replaced by a standard
"O.W.L.S." diamond that allows normal speed for the main tracks. UP likes them; there another in West Sac where Sierra Northern crosses UP. Greatly reduces maintenance needs. Works fine for the occasional moves to/from the Shops. 844 got through it fine when it visited CSRM; the tender derailment happened on the sharp curve approaching it.
