Sammie - I could be wrong, but seem to recall that both the EMC/EMD Model 40 and the GE 25-ton industrial switchers used Detroit diesels? Wonder why they chose Cummins for the next size up.
Interestingly, a fellow on another board was recently undertaking to restore an EMC 40 and wondering where on earth he could find parts for the Detroit 6-71's. He was pleasently surprised to be informed that tens of thousands of these engines were built, lots of used parts available, and Detroit/Alison still supports them with new parts.
