I remember when the "Kremlin King" took the rails from LA to SF. I was working for the City of Burbank Street Department then.
The City had a construction project going on at a grade crossing and it was my job to place kerosine lanterns with red globes on the construction barricades in the evenings, and pick them up again in the mornings.
I was doing my thing when a big black car came screeching up and two guys dressed in suits jumped out and after I-Deeing themselves as Secret Service, wanted to know who I was and what I was doing there. I had no idea that the big Russian guy was supposed to be going thru Burbank on the train. But I would imagine the railroad had the way to SF set up to be non-stop at max speed allowed for security's sake.
I watched the train go rumbling by, but did not see "The Bear". ;o)
